An amendment to the 3rd formula Revenue Allocation Bill failed to on the floor of the Senate Tuesday. Voting after a very emotional debate, 25 Senators mostly from the Coast, Ukambani, Kisii, and Northern parts of Kenya voted to fail the amendment and the Bill.

Kangata's proposed that the changes to the revenue sharing start taking effect in 2022. Those who opposed the bill maintained that the amendment was merely postponing a problem. On the other hand, the proponents of Kangata's proposals insisted it provided a win-win for all counties.

The Deputy Speaker, Prof. Kamar adjourned the debate on Sakaja's proposal claiming they were past curfew time.

When the house resumes, it will debate Sakaja's amendment to the revenue allocation formula.
