Kericho Governor visited victims of the landslide

H. E. Governor Prof. Paul Chepkwony

"Today I visited victims of the landslide which occurred last night in Nyansakia in Kamasian Ward, Kipkelion West Sub County. I donated an assortment of basic commodities including foodstuff, cooking oil and blankets among other things. Tomorrow I will also visit Kunyak Ward where several families were also displaced by a landslide last night.
The County Government will make arrangements with the National Government to identify and relocate families living in areas prone to landslides to safer areas. My Government will also waive medical costs for those being treated for any injuries resulting from the two landslides in our public health facilities, assist families whose houses were brought down by this tragedy to rebuild and also compensate those who have lost livestock and crops in the two incidents.
In the meantime I reiterate my advice to everyone to be extremely vigilant especially during this season of heavy rains and to stay safe.
Our Emergency Team remains on high alert during this period. Once again, I send my condolences to the families of those we sadly lost following these two incidents and wish all those who re recuperating a quick recovery. I thank County Commissioner Moses Mbaruku and his team, Kipkelion West MP Hon.  Hillary Kosgei, Kamasian MCA Hon. Philip Rono and the Kenya Red Cross for their support during this time."
